Getting Summer Skin Ready

Summer is coming… so it’s only right to start talking about some of my favourite products for getting myself ‘summer skin ready’. I am also heading to Ibiza in a few weeks so I’m on a mission to find my travel essentials!

I always find summer more difficult when it comes to making my skin and my make-up look good - you have more skin on show for a start, you sweat more, your make up runs off you face in the heat… it’s a whole big thing! So - here are some of my top products that I am already using to get prepped!

Upcircle’s Coffee and Lemongrass Body Scrub

The first of my favourite summer skin products is one of my newest purchases and is a body scrub from Upcircle.

This is the first product I have tried from this brand and I LOVE IT! I haven’t used loads of body scrubs but this makes me question why. It has made my skin so so soft and I feel like my legs look so much better. Now it’s summer, unfortunately you have to get them out constantly - not a fan!

The scrub is made from coffee and lemongrass so it smells strong and is quite thick but it really works at buffing away that dead and dry skin to leave you glowing.

Now I am on the hunt for the perfect moisturiser to use straight after. 10/10 from me.

Bali Body Tanning Mousse

The second of my summer products is Bali Body. I have been using this tanning moose intermittently for a few months now.

Most people say I still look pale but trust me, pale is a step up from my natural colour which is essentially see through!

I really like this product for a few reasons. It’s easy to apply and it soaks in quick so it doesn’t get on everything. You have to wash it off once you’ve left it for a while (the longer you leave the deeper the tan). Now I am terrible at applying tanning products even with a mitt and usually leave a stripe on my arms or legs without any tan. What’s great about this is you can add on that missing strip later so then when you wash it off it all looks even. It leaves a natural looking glow (for me anyway). Love!

Fenty Beauty Body Lava

This is a product I have been excited about for such a long time. It came out last year and I didn’t manage to get my hands on it. It then came out again ready for this summer and after hunting round every Sephora in Manhattan on a recent trip, I thought all hope was lost when it was sold out. But thanks to the amazingness of Fenty coming to Books UK - I got my order in quick.

Now I hope to be shimmering my way through the summer. I have tried a few glow oils etc and they just feel really sticky and thick. I like the way this one looks and smells and it doesn’t feel like you need alot to achieve that glow.

It comes in a few colours but the ‘Who Needs Clothes’ shade seems to be best for my skin tone and I plan to be using this on the beach to get that glowing look. Excited to use this on the beach.

Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense

SPF is the most important product of the summer so my list obviously could not skip this.

My favourite is the Kiehl’s one - I think I have probably spoken about it before. It’s non sticky, it doesn’t feel too thick and for my dry skin it just adds another layer of moisture.

SPF is so vital for skincare and especially as it gets warmer. I have been noticing that as the sun beams down at 5pm I am getting a little red (I could stand outside for 10 seconds and burn) because I put this on so early in the morning. It lasts a long time but I definitely need to remember to top up half way through the day - what’s good about this product is that I feel I could put some more on and it wouldn’t make my face look like an oil slick half way through the day!

Douvall’s Argan Bronzing Oil

This bronzing oil was kindly gifted to me by Douvall’s a few weeks back. I have never used bronzing oil before and have been pleasantly surprised.

This oil is super moisturising which is great for my skin and means I can definitely get away without powder which can be a little heavy duty for the hotter months.

It blends really easily and although I haven’t tried this method yet, I think it’d be great to mix with some moisturise for an extra boost of hydration.

This product is great for the beach (not that I have been on one yet this year) especially if you want to look a little more tanned without packing on the make-up. And it comes in travel size so this will definitely be coming along to Ibiza with me!
