Brand Spotlight: Glossier - My Top 5
In the grand scheme of things, I am fairly new to Glossier. A few of my friends have used the brand a lot and it was back in the day when I liked to wear tons of make-up and really preferred full-coverage. Glossier is a lot more about skin. You start with primed, dewy skin and add make-up onto that. Celebrating natural beauty, the brand also seems very keen to listen to its customers and make products that celebrate individuality.
So, why do I like them? The older I get, the less make-up I am wearing. This may seem like a weird way round, but actually I am more comfortable in my own skin and more aware of how to make my skin look and feel better - meaning I am happy to not have it too ‘covered up’. Glossier for me gives me the perfect, very natural look. This is especially good in the summer, when let’s face it, it’s just too damn hot for full coverage. Here are my top 5 products from Glossier.
Lip Balm
This was of the first products I bought when I started my Instagram journey last year. I’ll be honest, I was looking for pretty products to feature on my feed and pale pink was the vibe I liked. I also wanted that pretty pink bubblewrap packaging. Fast forward and now this balm is one of the most essential beauty products on my shelf. I have a panic attack when I can’t find it - so much so that I have bought one just to have as a spare. My lips used to be dry all the time and this is the only product that feels like it really gets below the surface and keeps them hydrated ALL DAY. I have original but I definitely need to try the other flavours in the set.
Cloud Paint
I have been meaning to try Cloud Paint for some time and purchased my first tube about a month ago. I got the lightest colour ‘Puff’ and I am in LOVE. I struggle with blush as the colour always looks a bit harsh on my pale skin. This pale colour works well and you only need the smallest amount to get great coverage. I can see this tube lasting me a very long time. I also love this on my dry skin because it doesn’t dry out like a powder would. Totally recommend!
Boy Brow
Boy Brow is one Glossier product I have had for a long time. Probably one of the most famous products in their set. I have had an obsession with brows for a VERY long time and I got this as a gift a few years ago before I even really knew much about the brand. I go back to this product again and again and whilst I do need a pencil for getting definition, as ‘soap brows’ have become the big thing, this is definitely great for getting that full, fluffy brow look. The only thing I wish is that it came in slightly different colours. The brown is a little light for me and the black is too dark, so I do wish they’d expand their colour range.
Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen
This is another product I bought recently. The Kiehl’s Daily Defence was my go to sunscreen and I always used SPF 50. That one is quite thick and creamy which I like because of my skin type, but I was keen to try out another one. What I like about this is that firstly it’s non greasy. It seems to melt into the skin so you don’t have to wait ages before applying make-up. Secondly a little goes such a long way. Sunscreen is absolutely key in my routine and this is one I would absolutely recommend at the moment.
Bubblewrap
Last but not least is Bubblewrap - the eye and lip plumping cream. I have been using this for the past few months now. I use it on my under eye area which I am always concerned about. This is supposed to keep the delicate under-eye skin hydrated, moisturised and protected. I love that the texture is so lightweight and whilst I like using a stronger cream for my evening routine - this has become a must have in my AM routine. It doesn’t feel sticky and I have to say with this & my Drunk Elephant eye cream I have noticed my under eye area looking brighter and more plump! 10/10.
