Finding the Perfect Concealer
After brows, it might be the second most important thing in my make-up routine. Whether you like wearing a lot of foundation and use concealer for brightening, or you use a bit of concealer for evening out your skin tone, finding the right shade is key!
I have very light skin, so finding a concealer that is even lighter and brighter is somewhat difficult. I also like to put a fair bit under my eyes, which I often worry about, so I needed to find a concealer that was hydrating and not too sticky and heavy. I’ve tried Revolution, Laura Mercier, Mac - you name it. It’s all about trying different brands, sampling and seeing what’s right for you. But I thought I would review two quite topical concealers and let you know my thoughts…
Kylie Cosmetics Concealer
First up, Kylie. As I may have mentioned before, I am a Kylie Cosmetics fan! Not just because I am intrigued by her, but because she makes good make-up that works for my skin. I was worried about buying a concealer online without trying it first. I was pretty sure the shade would be wrong but I used the guides on the website and on insta and chose Gypsum. Luckily it was the perfect shade. This is now my number 1 concealer and here’s why.
It’s massively hydrating and if I don’t put powder on it (I have dry skin) it stays where it is all day.
It lasts forever - I have been using it for about a year and only just run out of the first tube.
It’s full coverage - you only need a little bit and it really covers and brightens but is build-able a the same time. Winner!
Fenty Beauty Concealer
Everyone is mad for Fenty. I LOVE the primer and I love what they are doing as a brand, but unfortunately the foundation shades and the concealer just didn’t work too well for me. First of all, I find the shades all come up a little orange on my skin. It doesn’t help that the lighting is SO bad in Harvey Nichols beauty dept. Sort it out guys. Please!
I bought the Fenty foundation when it first came out, I tried it in the shop but when I got home I just looked orange and I wasn’t mad on the texture. But when the foundation came out people were raving about it and so I thought I would give it another go. Same issue, but also I found for dry skin it’t not hydrating enough. It goes a little powdery on my skin and does not last all day. Don’t get me wrong, it’s better than a lot of others out there but if I had to choose between the two, I would pick Kylie all day. Sorry Rihanna… I still love you LOADS!
