Getting My Best Brow On

I’m not sure when it happened, when I went from understanding that plucking my eybrows into ultra fine lines (AKA ‘90s cool) was in fact NOT cool at all and bushy brows was the in thing… probably around the time it became the in thing I guess. Since then I have been doing everything I can to get one step closer to the mono brow look I was rocking (and hating) from age 0 to around 9. Oh the good old days!

Tools of ChoiCe

I have had a few favourite brow tools in my time, ranging from the Mac pencil to anything by Benefit, but these days I love the ultra fine micro pencil from NYX Cosmetics. I use Espresso, the darkest brown colour - black is too dark on me but dark brown often comes up a little too light and red. The waxy pencil stays on all day and it’s small enough that I can do little hair-like strokes to give a real-life brow look.

When it comes to gels, I can’t quite decide if I like the Glossier Boy Brow or the Charlotte Tilbury brow gel better. I would say if you have dark, thick eyebrows, go for the CT one - it holds a little more product and fills in better, whereas you can be a bit more accurate with Boy Brow.

Soap brows

If you don’t know what this trend is, look it up right now. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be mesmerised for days. Soap Brows is basically using a little brow brush, rubbing it onto a bar of soap and then brushing your eyebrows up for that lovely, bushy effect. There are a load of kits out there now for doing soap brows but the point of this was supposed to be a cheap and effective ways to get fuller, thicker brows fast & on a budget. Soap brows is one of my fav things ever - the only issue with it is that you have to have the hair there to start with - which brings me onto my next point…

Growth Serums

I have never had much luck with growth serums. I tried and tried different things to make my poor eyebrows grow back and whether they didn’t work or I just got impatient and stopped using them, I’m not sure. After my best friend tried the RapidBrow serum - her eyebrows went INSANE. Check out the picture below if you don’t believe me. So I have been using this serum for about the past 6 weeks. I haven’t seen an amazing transformation YET but there is some growth there and I am excited to get my bushy brows back! Please God.

Microblading

So if the serums don’t work, this will be my next thing. Microblading (if you don’t already know) is tattooing on your eyebrows and not in a Scouse Brow kind of way. I would recommend finding a great one if you’re going to go for this. Done right, it can look amazing. My friend Chelsea has possibly the best eyebrows I have seen and this is down to her amazing hair (for a start) but also some great brow work and microblading. I can’t comment or review this just yet and I am hoping the serum will work but I will update if I get to this! I would recommend if the serums don’t work for you though and you’re looking for a more permanent, natural solution.

Hacks

There are tons of brow hacks out there. Things like adding concealer under the brow to lighten the area, using a teaspoon for the shape and doing it as a last step in your routine. I am interested to try this new mono brow trend though. If you haven’t seen this, it’s basically where you connect your brows in the middle to achieve the ultimate symmetry and then conceal the mono. I know what they say, sisters not twins… but come on - we all want the symmetry! I haven’t tried this new hack yet but keep an eye on my Insta and I might give it a go soon!
